Nakhon Sawan > Chiang Mai
Wednesday, 7 March 2012
We left Nakhon Sawan at 8.00 am to continue our journey to Chiang Mai. We noticed that the weather is hot, dry and hazy. Along the way we found a nice rest area (N17*50'45.6"E099*17'29.2") with individual huts overlooking the river. Here we cooked wanton tomyam and maggie mee. After a simple lunch we proceed with our journey and we noticed that as we travel further north, the weather is drier and the haze is thicker. We drove to the elephant training centre just to have a look but did not stop as there were a lot of people inside the training centre. We arrived at Chiang Mai late afternoon. Checked in at Li Lu Hotel (N18*46'53.4"E099*00'08.8") We were pleasantly suprise to see our room, nice and cosy. We paid THB650 for double and THB550 for single. The rate is inclusive of breakfast, free flow of coffee and drinking water. Next to the hotel is a massage centre, 7-11, launderette and it takes only 5 minutes to the famous night market. In the evening we went to the night market and had our dinner there. On the way back to the hotel we stopped for foot massage next to the hotel.
Today we start our Chiang Mai tour to SAA Paper and Umbrella Handicraft Centre. Here they show the entire process of umbrella making from start to finish. After the tour we went for lunch at Sophia Restaurant (N18*47'10.5"E099*00'06.4"), food was nice and I really recommend this place if you happen to visit Chiang Mai.Later in the evening we had 3 hours of pampering at Rest and Relax Spa. For dinner we had burger and chili dog at Orange Cafe (Halal) the owner having worked in Chicago for 23 years. This restaurant situated about 100 meters from Sophia Restautant.

Kangar > Prachuap Khiri Khan
Prachuap Khiri Khan > Nakhon Sawan
At the start of the journey we encountered some problem and not taking any chances we detoured back to Ah Wei's workshop at USJ. After confident that the problem was solved, we started our journey again at 5.30pm. We arrived Changlun quite late and decided to put up a night at Kangar, Perlis.
After breakfast, we drove to Changlun and purchased Thailand car insurance and proceed to the border. Border crossing was fast, as few vehicles at both CIQ. The journey started now and we had our first stop at PTT for cup of Amazon Coffee before heading to Chumphon. Stop for lunch at PTT in Thong Song town. Here they have the halal restaurant (N08*09'27.4" E099*39'58.0"). Proceed to Prachuap Khiri Khan and arrived at Had Thong Hotel (N11*48'17.2"E099*47'56.1") around 8.30pm. Here I am always facinated to watch the sunrise from the balcony of my room every time I stayd there.
Had breakfast at the hotel and continue our journey. Our next destination is Damneon Saduak, the famous floating market. As we were travelling along the route we spotted a signboard stated Sam Phan Nam Floating Market (N12*30'04.1"E099*54'56.0"), Hua Hin and decided to visit the place. we found that the area was newly open and not much we can see the place is not open for business, maybe we are to early ...... not wanting to waste time we proceed to our main destination. Arrived at Damneon Saduak Floating Market (N13*31'12.8"E099*57'31.2")before noon. The market start business from 8.00am - 12.00noon. From Damneon Saduak we travel to Nakhon Sawan and spend a night there. We found a Kareem Restauant (N15*41'58.6"E100*07'06.8") which served simple local dishes and happened to be next to the hotel we stayed... Asia Nakhon Sawan Hotel (N15*41'58.0"E100*07'05.3").
